Boreal Owls (Aegolius funereus) are rare and seldom seen. Small and reclusive, I carved this darling to highlight its intense, but drowsy eyes and mimicked the masterful camouflage of its feathers by connecting and blurring the lines between the subject and its environment. Their ability to melt into their surroundings is reflected through the use of one color.
